Critique to Support and Stretch: A Conversation between Juana Martinez-Neal and Molly Idle is free and open to the public who are encouraged to take in the exhibit and engage in visual critique. The Public Voices Fellowship is part of an ambitious national initiative to change who writes history. Launched by The OpEd Project in collaboration with a core group of institutional partners, including Yale University, the Ford Foundation and more than a dozen others, we have had extraordinary success accelerating the ideas and impact of new and necessary voices at the highest levels in their fields, including women of all backgrounds.

The public is invited to take in the beautiful views of the sky at the University of Alberta Observatory. Throughout the year, solar observing is offered every Thursday afternoon from 12 pm to 1 pm. During the U of A school year, visitors can drop in on Thursday evening times vary, see below to get an amazing view of the night sky through the powerful telescopes. This activity is best suited for older kids. Not recommended for those under 7 The telescopes are in an unheated dome, so make sure to bundle up on cold days!

If you have extenuating circumstances that will prevent you from starting this Fall, there may be options to begin your program in January or apply to defer your admission to Fall , depending on your program. All deferral request forms must be received by the first day of classes August 24, for Augustana students or September 1, for most other students. Please note that the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan will release the final official transcripts in late-July. We anticipate that in most cases, final and official transcripts will be available, and we will use these final grades as presented.
However, if your final documentation is not available due to school closures or exam cancellations resulting from the COVID pandemic, the University of Alberta will accept the grades and interim documents submitted to date in order to meet offer conditions. All in-person events have been cancelled until June 30, however the University of Alberta is offering a number of virtual events as replacement.
The University of Alberta is also now offering one-on-one virtual advising sessions for prospective high school students. In a statement, president and vice-chancellor David Turpin said a majority of classes will continue to be delivered online come September, and that the decision came after a conversation with the office of the chief medical officer of health. As the fall term progresses, we must be prepared to be flexible. Turpin added that the university is exploring ways to create opportunities for students to connect with one another and with university services, acknowledging the importance of both in the lives of students.
He also said there will be residences available for incoming students, subject to directives of the chief medical officer of health, adding that the U of A is preparing to ramp up research activities as early as this month. Red Deer College has announced it will be delivering classes online in September, and the University of Calgary announced Thursday it is pursuing a mix of in-person and online classes, with the goal of having just 30 per cent of students on its campuses at any given time.
In response to COVID, on-campus recruitment events remain on hold, but virtual events are being offered when possible. As campus re-opens, new dates for on-campus events will be made available.
